Attorney James Simpson is a criminal defense attorney at MayesTelles PLLC. Originally from San Diego, California, James earned his bachelor’s degree in Political Science from California Lutheran University, and then his Juris Doctorate from the Quinnipiac University School of Law in Hamden, Connecticut in 1997. James then moved to Arizona where he began his legal career.

James began his career a prosecutor at the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office where he served in the Major Crimes Division in both the Sex Crimes Unit and Gang Unit and was recognized with numerous recognition awards for his work along the way. James also served in the Arizona Attorney General’s Office as a High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (HIDTA) prosecutor, and as a prosecutor and a Bureau Chief in the Pinal County Attorney’s Office. James has also served 8 years as a criminal defense attorney. Prior to joining MayesTelles, James had cumulatively dedicated almost 20 years as both a prosecutor and a defense attorney where he handled hundreds of cases and conducted a large volume of trials in cases ranging from DUIs to complex, major felony cases. James now utilizes that skill and understanding to advocate for his clients and protect their rights.
